You look up the peak at the signal pyre. The whole mountain is groaning and creaking with the pressure underneath it. There are geysers and puddles everywhere, and they seem to have some kind of evil intelligence; they form into threatening fists and obscene gestures whenever you look at one for too long.

If you're going to get to that pyre alive, you're going to have to lower the pressure somehow.
