I think the Table needs to be better explained somehow. For instance, the way the [[Order of the Silver Wossname]] table was explained on it's respective item page.

::The usefulness of a hat is limited by its weight cap.  The multiplier in the columns just tell you what to multiply its weight (with that hat on it) by in order to figure out how good it is at something.  The halloween hats are limited to 2 pounds, so even with a 10x multiplier they'd only be 20 pound leprechauns at best.  For uncapped weight, you want a power 200 hat, like the brimstone beret. Would something like [http://members.bellatlantic.net/~devjoe/hatrack.html] be useful for those finding this page confusing? On this page I have listed all the hats providing each type of effect sorted with the unlimited weight ones at the top, then the capped ones sorted by maximum possible effective weight (or average damage/restore amount at that maximum since those formulas have more variables). The table details including additional effects are given after the name. This reduces the number of hats you need to compare at any one time to just a few, and puts them in the same list. At the end of every combat:

Not only am I getting more items (I'm too lazy to calculate the percentage at the moment, just giving spaders a heads up) but I'm also hitting monsters more often, though none of my stats (except myst. but I'm using a melee) have increased.

== Wreck hats ==

At 30lbs:

Moist cap
"Demyxbot wreathes your opponent in rotting seaweed, dealing 90-120 (stench) damage."
Seems to attack about 75% of the time. No other effects.

Rusty helmet
"Demyxbot konks your opponent on the head with his diving helmet, disorienting him for a second."
Stuns, fairly low frequency.
When attempting to go underwater:
"You can't adventure there now -- Demyxbot wouldn't be able to breathe!"

Aerated helmet
<s>You can't give an aerated helmet to your familiar through the terrarium screen, you need to click the [put on hatrack] link.</s>
"DarkSpuddle konks your opponent on the head with his diving helmet, disorienting him for a second."
...same message. Lame. Frequency seems to be the same.

Moist cap looks like 3-4x damage. I ran it at 25 lbs and got 33 out of 39 attacks for 75-100, and ran it at 50 lbs and got 30 of 45 attacks for 150-199 damage. I did not observe any other messages suggesting any other kind of attack. --[[User:Devjoe|Devjoe]] 15:38, 21 December 2008 (UTC)

Aerated diving helmet data: At 35 lbs, blocked 34 of 115 rounds. At 50 pounds, blocked 53 of 120 rounds.

Rusty diving helmet data: At 35 lbs, blocked 34 of 113 rounds. At 50 pounds, blocked 54 of 115 rounds.

These look like the same formula, about 30% at 35 lbs. and 45% at 50 lbs. This makes it something like a 60%-weight potato, which is not a multiplier we've seen before on the potato. Neither helmet gave any other messages. --[[User:Devjoe|Devjoe]] 17:10, 21 December 2008 (UTC)

I am seeing a range of damage of only 14-21, not the 14-24 somebody previously wrote on the wiki. For the responsive damage, I got 30-45. All data are with a 7 lb hatrack (I cannot reduce its weight) again mob penguins of various sizes due to manipulating my stats (these changes did not appear to affect the damage done). Raw data:

What level were you? Its passive damage may be influenced by your level, like the hat's passive damage [[User:Sehkeng|Sehkeng]], 23 December 2008 (+8 GMT)

== Spooky Putty mitre ==
I tested this today, I believe it is the exact same as the Ice pick, 1.5x fairychaun.  This sort of makes sense since it is an IoTM hat, although I wish there was some variety. Data below.

25lb Hatrack (max weight), tested on 100 Beanbats produced 90 beans.  This is exactly consistent with a 37.5lb fairy, though others can confirm this since 100 is probably a bit low. Meat drops were also tested on beanbats.  50 Beanbats produced an average of 89.14 which is also exactly consistent with a 37.5lb Lep.  Again, others can add more data since 50 is low. Hey, I created a spreadsheet to organize my hatrack data and I'm hoping others will find it useful.

The pages are named Sheet2 Sheet3 and Sheet4 for my convenience.. Sheet4 contains the final information, just put in your hatrack's base weight and it will calculate the known stats.

For those of you who want to maintain and update it yourself you can paste the hat info into sheet3, sheet2 will collect the data, you should paste the values of this onto the fields in sheet4. Several of the attack statistics follow a non-standard equation so beware of that.

Also let's get on spading the Mer-Kin sneakmask, pig-iron helm, slime-covered helmet, and willowy bonnet!

A quick 100 advs will show this is not near the riftlet advs gained, with 100 advs I saw 5 adv gains which were randomly spaced (first at 20 advs in and 3 which occurred within 5 advs of each other)  would assume it to be a small chance per adv with the time helmet in the hatrack. --[[User:Uzziah|Uzziah]] 12:11, 9 February 2011 (UTC)

== Mullet Wig ==

I've done some spading with 100 adventures in the Middle Chamber. The raw data is as follows

Weight 10lb

Block 131/305

15-36HP

15-36MP

Chance 53/100

So, the results were

Block at 10lbs: 42.95% +/- 5.668%

Healing Chance: 53% +/- 9.98%

The block rate follows the formula of a 30lb potato approximately, and the 50% seems to be accurate. However, the 15-30HP/MP range is completely wrong. Serendipity baby. First, the formula probably is correct...and you apparently have discovered that despite the weight cap, your current Zodiac sign Wallaby still affects the hatrack. wolfman mask: "<Mad Hatrack> growls adorably in his little mask." Not sure; maybe a volley.

:Just spent 1 adventure with eat hat in the Haiku Dungeon; the three masks are all +meat, and given the stats I was getting, probably +stats, too; I'd wager they're 8x volley-fairies like the last set of special Halloween masks, just with really misleading messages.  The beret didn't have an end-of-combat effect. I can confirm that all three masks appear to have Leprechaun effect. All acted as a 10x Leprechaun against bunnies. (Results of 18,20,23 with known meat boost of 157%).--[[User:Foggy|Foggy]] 22:19, 17 November 2009 (UTC)

In the Beanbat Chamber, mad hatrack with FRH equipped gave only this end-of-battle message:
[familiar] hums a soothing mantra at you, making you feel like you've been hit by a mantra ray.

Gave an observed range of 60-89 HP and 60-90 MP. Acted 27 times out of 50 adventures.

As with other 100-Power hats, has a weight cap of 25 lbs.

==Guard of the Turtle Shell==
For Guard of the Turtle Shell, I ran 104 adventures against stone age hippies, equip with chrome helmet turtle, fouet whip, turtling rod, Galapagosian Cuisses, pirate fledges, and garter of the turtle poacher. Over 557 rounds, the familiar acted 299 times or 53.6% (which I rounded to 50%). Minimum damage for the full-weight familiar (40) was 80, maximum 120.

==Helm of the White Knight==
Considerably easier to verify range of damage. At full weight (15 lbs), it acted 779 times in 2532 rounds over 100 adventures, or 30% of the time. Range of damage was 15-30, with an even distribution.--[[User:Foggy|Foggy]] 18:09, 31 March 2010 (UTC)

== Mark I-V Steam Hat ==
Ok a few things the Brown Felt Hat is different than the steam hats, but more importantly while having a +20% from my sign means beefy bodyguard bats should drop between 240-360 meat.  I have in five combats seen:
533. 586. 503. 519. 523 meat.

adds the after combat text of: 	Brims winks at you and says, "Chugga-chugga chugga-chugga chugga-chugga chugga-chugga choo-choo!"

None of the hats have after combat text against objects and most goblin creature types and one or two other archtypes. 
Does for a fact work on the creature types, undead, beasts, humanoid.

against most bats with the +20% included from my sign, I am getting 38-56 meat.

== Quick Comment on Volleyball/Sombrero Hybrids ==

I was trying to spade the pointy red hat and discovered that for a Volleyball/Leprechaun hybrid, the (+X stats) will appear after the hatrack's message ''only'' if the monster does not drop meat.-[[User:Foggy|Foggy]] ([[User talk:Foggy|talk]]) 17:01, 17 October 2014 (UTC)
