• The miss message about his buck being not as powerful is a reference to the fact that a Canadian dollar used always to be worth less than an American dollar.
• The hit message about being hit on the head refers to a scene in the sitcom Fawlty Towers (in the episode "The Germans"), where Basil Fawlty (John Cleese) is hit on the head by a moose-head he attached poorly to the wall, which subsequently lands on waiter Manuel's head. This prompts the following exchange between Manuel and the senile Major Gowan:

  Manuel: "He hit me on the head!"

  Major: "No, you hit him on the head! You naughty moose!"

• The critical miss message about covering himself with his hands and edging off sideways may refer to any number of cartoon shorts by Warner Bros. or other companies, in which characters suffering from sudden (partial) nudity would cover 'vulnerable' areas and slip off-screen.
