• The nature of dwarf bread in KoL (hard enough to be used as a weapon) is a reference to the dwarf bread of Terry Pratchett's Discworld novels. In the novel Feet of Clay, for example, one B'hrian Bloodaxe is said to have killed 57 trolls with his Battle Bread at the Battle of Koom Valley. There are many varieties of dwarf bread with different applications toward the same purpose (drop scones, for instance, can do a good deal of damage dropped off clifftops or battlements).
