| Everything in the Kingdom of Loathing is composed of the five basic elements: heat, cold, stench, spookiness, and sleaze. Although most monsters in the Kingdom show no preference for or aversion from any particular element, many monsters, such as the demons in The Deep Fat Friars' Gate or the undead enemies in The Cyrpt, have an affinity for one element or another. Aditionally, adventurers can make use of certain spells and accessories to harness the power of the elements.

| The elements exist in a delicate balance, and each one can cause great harm to foes of opposing elements, while dealing almost no damage to enemies of the same element. The following is a breakdown of how each element performs against every other one.

| |
| The first three Pastamancer and Sauceror attack spells often cause random elemental damage. Use them on elemental enemies at your own risk.

| One point which is unclear is how the elemental resistance accessories work. If an adventuerer is treated as having the element to which he is resistant, then resistance to a single element could mean weakness to two others. This can easily be tested by wearing a lihc face to The Deep Fat Friars' Gate or Guano Junction.
