These are magical vision-enhancing eyedrops, made from newt eyes. If dripping liquified amphibian eyes into your own eyes doesn't sound like something that would help you see better, then obviously you're not an alchemist. Because you're obviously still sane.
By the way, this makes six kinds of magical eyedrops in this game. How many online games can make that claim? Not many!
