A Gnollish Gearhead calls out to you: "Hey, buddy. Want to help me out with an experiment?"
"What kind of experiment?"
"Well, Mayor Zapruder's given me a grant to come up with a way to improve exports of our hot-rods and various cheap gizmos, and the device I'm working on needs some testing. There's meat in it for you."
"Well, all right. What do I do?"
He leads you over to a large armchair and straps you into it. "Just tell me what your goal is in life."
"Well," you say, "I'm trying to free King Ralph and get rid of all the monsters so that the citizens of the Kingdom can live in peace."
The gnoll pushes a button on the side of the chair, and a large mallet flips out of the back and smashes into your head with a loud CLONK. "Try again," he says.
"Ow! Well, uh, I'd like to make enough meat to start a family, get some more white picket fences around the campsite, you know..."
CLONK. "Again?"
"Argh! I guess what I really want is a much bigger TV..."
"Nearly there," says the gnoll, twiddling a knob. CLONK. "How about now?"
"Uhhh... buy shiny things?"
"Perfect. Thanks for your help." He unstraps your arms and helps you stagger to your feet, and gives you a large sack of meat.
