"Bustle in your hedgerow" is a line from "Stairway to Heaven" by Led Zeppelin. I shouldn't have to tell you this. Kids these days.
"Gathering of Angels" is a reference to "Come Sail Away", from the Styx album The Grand Illusion.
"Elders of the gentle race" is a reference to "Kashmir", from Led Zeppelin's album Physical Graffiti.
"Higher Plane Serpents" may be a reference to the Samuel L. Jackson movie "Snakes On A Plane", due for release Summer 2006.
