glimmering great tit feather
This is a feather from a great tit, one of the loveliest birds in all of creation. When you go walking in the woods, you should always carry a pair of binoculars, in case you see some great tits and want to get a closer look at them.

- Sticking feathers in one's mouth is a reference to Jeff Noon's book, Vurt, in which the characters consume color-coded feathers in order to access a shared alternate reality.
- "Tit" refers to a bird from the Paridae family. In North America, tits are commonly referred to as "titmice." As "tit" is also common slang for "breast," it is a double entendre.
