You can't possibly use it immediately after ascending - exiting Ronin would require spending 600 turns in one day, and that's impossible

An Old-Timey Radio

An Old-Timey Radio may be installed at the empty endtable in the Clan Rumpus Room for 50,000 Meat. It may be used one time per day.

When "Used"

  • First use:
You wiggle the knob on the radio until you find a station. It's playing an episode of the hilarious childrens' radio comedy, The Adventures of Sammy, the Happy Salamander. You listen to the adventures and misadventures of Sammy and his best friend, Katie Capybara, and you feel more in tune with animals everywhere.
You acquire an effect: Happy Salamander
(duration: 10 Adventures)
or
You wiggle the knob on the radio until you find a station. It's playing some old-timey country and western song. You hear fiddles, steel guitars, and a voice urging you to "spin your partner 'round and 'round, allemand left and don't fall down." Maybe it's one of those rap/country songs you've heard so much about.
You acquire an effect: Hip to Be Square Dancin'
(duration: 10 Adventures)
or
You wiggle the knob on the radio until you find a station. It's playing some old-timey gangsta rap song. The M.C. raps about the urgent need to encrust any flat surface, including one's own teeth, with porquoise, baconstone, and hamethyst. Then he raps about how mo' meat always brings mo' problems. You ponder the paradox.
You acquire an effect: Livin' Large
(duration: 10 Adventures)
or
You wiggle the knob on the radio until you find a station. It's playing a song that immediately brings a smile to your face. Remember that night you stayed up all night talking to someone, not even noticing it was getting late until the sun came up? Remember the song that you heard that night, the song that you'll always associate with that person and that conversation? No? Well, that's the song that's playing on the radio.
You acquire an effect: Wistfully Nostalgic
(duration: 10 Adventures)
  • Multiple visits, or when in Hardcore or Ronin:
You wiggle the knob on the radio, but you can't seem to find anything worth listening to. Oh well. Maybe there'll be something on tomorrow.
