She was a contemporary of Shirley Temple's in the movie business, but an adult (known for her impressive bosom, aggressive personality, and tendency to infuriate the censors) when Shirley was a child star.
- A Shirley Temple is a real-life non-alcoholic drink made with lemon-lime soda and grenadine.
- Mae West reputedly said "A hard man is good to find," which is a risque play on the saying "A good man is hard to find."
