The Hermit humbly requests that this page be rewritten or expanded. Due to the effects of the comet, Grimace appears to have a small piece itself orbiting it. The developers have confirmed that we understand the pattern of the minimoon, but the precise effects of that minimoon are not yet completely understood. The moons in the Kingdom of Loathing, Ronald and Grimace. They could be seen from The LAAAAME Observatory, while it lasted, and their phases affect several things in the Kingdom. There are certain days, called Stat Days, on which stat gains are 50% higher for one particular stat. If Ronald is full, MP gains are doubled. If Grimace is full, HP gains are doubled. Other things that the moons also affect are:

• Temporary Lycanthropy (obtained from blood of the Wereseal),
• the Grue familiar, and
• the effects of the Talisman of Baio and the Jekyllin hide belt.

The revolutions of Ronald determine the length of a KoL month in the KoL Year. Ronald takes one KoL month to complete one revolution, while Grimace completes its rotation once every two KoL months. A chunk of Grimace is in orbit around it, and it adds light (when white) or subtracts light (when dark and overlapping the crescent part of the moon). Since it has only existed for a few days, the new cycle of altered effects and stat days is not yet known; however, effects of Wereseal have already been observed to be intermediate between the previously observed values, so the "moonlet" (which has several nicknames) is likely to change all effects whenever it is visible in the sky. The developers have confirmed that the minimoon traces an 11-position orbit in the sky, advancing two spots each day. Against the 16-state period of the main moons, this gives an 11x16=176 day cycle (about half of one of your "earth years"). The developers have also confirmed that stat days are unaffected by the minimoon.

You can also enter chat and give a private message consisting of "day" to Chatbot (/msg chatbot day) to be told how many days until the moons have an effect on a stat.

• The names of the moons, Ronald and Grimace, are the same as Ronald McDonald and the Grimace, two of the mascots of the McDonald's fast-food restaurant chain. Also, the comet orbiting Grimace was unofficially named Hamburglar by the Dev team, the name of another mascot of the chain.
• As for the moons themselves, they are very reminiscent of Trammel and Felucca, the moons from the Ultima series of games by Richard Garriott.
