• May also reference to Canadian money, which comes in varying colors based on denomination. The current $10 is a maroon/purple color, although since raw meat is that not quite purple colour, and is, in fact, more of a maroon, it is probably is just referring to the fact that your character does live in a place that uses maroon money.
