PvP now takes place in the Huggler Memorial Colosseum located in The Big Mountains.
Mechanics
- All skill-related minigames are now seasonal.
- Each attack decrements all of the attacker's effects by one. No effects are decremented when defending.
- Stat loss from losing a fight in Hardcore/Ronin is now only 1/10 of what it was prior to the revamp.
- Items marked with a special flag (no trade, no sell, no discard, gift items, and quest items) cannot be stolen when attacking for loot. Currently equipped items and items stored in the defender's display case and Hagnk's are also safe. Items in the closet are safe as long as there is a valid target in the defender's inventory.
- Players may PvP while drunk.
Minigames
When initiating an attack, in addition to choosing which spoil to attack for, the attacker chooses which stat to attack his or her opponent with. The four options are Bully (with Muscle), Burninate (with Mysticality), Backstab (with Moxie), or Ballyhoo (chooses a random stat).
PvP itself consists of seven rounds of fighting called "minigames".
Minigame | Explanation |
---|---|
Adventurer's Prowess | The first round of PvP compares the buffed stat which the attacker chose to attack with. Unlike the other stat contests, this first buffed has a slight variance, so if the two amounts are relatively close the higher will not always win. On top of the randomness, there is a chance that the defender will defend with a stat other than the one the attacker originally chose. So, for instance, the burninating attacker may have his Mysticality compared to the defending Muscle or Moxie. This is intentional and is reflected in the combat text. |
Adventurer's Flexibility | The third round compares the buffed stat of one of the other two stat types, chosen randomly. The higher stat wins. (This minigame is not chosen if the PvPer opts to Ballyhoo.) |
The last five (or six, when Ballyhooing) rounds are minigames, which compare seemingly senseless attributes of the two players involved to determine the victor. Ties go to the defender. These minigames will change at the start of the new season on July 1st, 2012. | |
Balanced Diet Comparison | Who has the most balanced diet? (Most different types of food eaten in the past 30 days) |
Birds of a Slimy Feather | Whose clan is the slimiest? (Most Slimy Eyeballs in clan trophy case) |
Epic-urean | Who's the supreme hobo? (Most Hobo Power) |
Exterminator, Too | Who's the best ratcatcher? (Most drunken rats slain this season) |
Flowers Picked | Whose thumb is the greenest? (Most flowers picked this season) |
Mystery Contest | ??? (Most baggies of powdered sugar in your display case) |
Spelunker | Who's the best spelunker? (Most basement levels cleared this season) |
Swimming with the Fishes | Who is the fishiest? (Most turns spent underwater this season) |
The Egg Hunt | Who can find the most eggs in 45 seconds? (Highest item drop bonus) |
Upward Mobility Contest | Who is the most upwardly mobile? (Total Fame gained this season) |
Verbosity Demonstration | Who takes the longest to describe their gear? (Longest equipment names) |
Who Will Not Not Eat Them | Who likes green ham the most? (Most green hamhocks eaten this season) |
After all seven rounds, the player who won the majority of minigames wins the match.
