People once believed that when someone dies, a crow carries their soul to the land of the dead. But sometimes, something so bad happens that a terrible sadness is carried with it and the soul can't rest. Then sometimes, just sometimes, the crow can bring that soul back to put the wrong things right. However, although crows are very intelligent, they do like shiny things. So sometimes the crow gets distracted and forgets about the soul. And then sometimes the crow gets torn to bits by wild animals. And then sometimes, just sometimes, an adventurer happens by and finds the bits, and glues them back together, restoring the crow to life, which is something that shouldn't work but does anyway.

Thus the circle of life continues, or whatever.
