Starship Name :: Speak to Science Officer

You approach Sub- Leftenant La Forge who is messing with a tricorder. "Greetings Third Sergeant, what assistance may I offer?," he asks.

If you haven't taken the tricorder

"Can I have that tricorder?"

"Sure, just be careful with it, it's a delicate instrument," Sub- Leftenant La Firge tells you.

If you are already holding something

You can't figure out how to carry two things, so you put down what you're holding.

"What can you tell me about the hostiles?"

Borg scenario

"Well, Admiral, based on the emissions of their ship, I've determined that they are of the Computron race."

"Computrons are a unique race, Sir, a synthesis of organic and technological parts with a hive mind," expounds Second Ensign La Furge.

Cloud scenario

"Well, Admiral, based on the emissions of their ship, I've determined that they are of the Living Cloud race."

"The Living Clouds originated in the Zaxxon nebula and appear to be sentient gaseous clouds," explains Third Ensign La Forge.

Crystalline scenario

"Well, Third Sergeant, based on the emissions of their ship, I've determined that they are of the Jaden race."

Second Private La Ferge explains, "It would appear that these Jadens maintain their consciousness in a crystalline matrix and move around utilizing an ingenious anti-gravity resonance. The resonance creates an aura of sound around the creatures but slightly out of phase to our hearing."

Emoticon scenario

"Well, Admiral, based on the emissions of their ship, I've determined that they are of the Wordwordwordword race."

"The Wordwordwordword race confounds logic, they appear to be a physical embodiment of their emotions," explains Primary Spaceperson La Ferge.

Third Private La Ferge continues, "Apparently they are also nourished by conversation and emotions. Also, they love to party."

Warrior scenario

"Well, Third Sergeant, based on the emissions of their ship, I've determined that they are of the Waron race."

"We had best be on guard, Third Sergeant," explains Sergeant Sub- Chief La Firge, "the Warons are a warlike and aggressive species."

"Shall we split this Fermented Tribble, Third Leftenant La Ferge?"

"What purpose would that serve, Admiral?"

You explain, "well, humans often consume alcoholic beverages during times of stress to take the edge off."

"I see captain, because death is inevitable, and you are incapable of ignoring your emotions, you stave off your fear of impending doom by altering your though patterns. Unfortunately, I believe that our odds of surviving this situation are at least fifty-eight point one six four three two percent, and thus our doom is not impending, and consuming this alcohol would be illogical. Also, I don't need the neuro-receptor opening effects of the alcohol."

"You could just say 'no'."

"No, Admiral."

"Good day, sir."
