The character granting the quest asks you to find the key to Fernswarthy's Tower.
Note: you may have to speak with the quest-giver more than once, and you may have to have spoken with other guild members first.

- Adventure at The Misspelled Cemetary until you acquire one of the following:
- Grave robbing shovel (pre-cyrpt) or
- Rusty grave robbing shovel (also obtainable by adventuring The Defiled Alcove)
- Continue adventuring The Misspelled Cemetary until you get the A Grave Situation adventure, which gives you Fernswarthy's key. *Note: You do not have to have the shovel equipped in order to get the adventure, it just needs to be in your inventory.

Rewards
- 500 Meat
- Area access: The Ruins of Fernswarthy's Tower
- In your Quest Log, under completed quests, you will see: "You've turned in the old book, and they said they didn't want it and for you to go away. A bit anticlimactic, but I suppose it still counts as a success. Congratulations!"
- Class specific reward:
- Manual of Labor (Muscle classes)
- Manual of Transmission (Myst classes)
- Manual of Dexterity (Moxie classes)
Text
- Before getting Fernswarthy's key, your Quest Log will read:
- You've been tasked with digging up the grave of an ancient and powerful wizard and bringing back a key that was buried with him. What could possibly go wrong?
- After getting Fernswarthy's key, your Quest Log will read:
- Much as you expected, you've been given back the key to Fernswarthy's tower and ordered to investigate.
Notes
- As of 1/24/07, the Temporal Rift in the Nearby Plains doesn't appear automatically. Once you obtain Fernswarthy's key, the Temporal Rift to The Nearby Plains in the Distant Past will reopen.
References
- The name of this quest is a reference to the daily comic strip The Wizard of Id (the "id" and "ego" are two divisions of the psyche, according to Sigmund Freud's theories.)
