- The line "It looks like it could hold secrets that would overturn everything we know about organized religion" is a reference to The Da Vinci Code. The image of the head resembles the subject of Da Vinci's famous painting, The Mona Lisa, right down to the little obscure smile.
- The line "It looks like it could hold secrets that would overturn everything we know about organized religion" may also reference Zardoz, a film where Sean Connery is carried off by a giant stone head to learn the secrets of God.
- The line "Everything turns so dark... you wake up a few minutes later, feeling conned" refers to a line from one of the word puzzles in The Da Vinci Code, "So dark the con of man".
- The line "It tries to show you its hidden secrets, but you figure out that they're completely fictional." may refer to the controversy over the historical accuracy of elements within the book and film versions of The Da Vinci Code.
