*I'd say it's just a low drop rate. I was going in with 3 jek belts, 2 bottle rocket crossbows, the helmet from the Bounty Hunter Hunter, flaming pink shirt, plexiglass pants, a 60+ pound fairy type, blue cupcake, black cone, lavender hearts, ocelot eyes, ermine eyes, goblin eyedrops, and any other +item potion or buff I could muster. By the old formula (not sure of the new drop rates on fairy types now) I was over 500% item drops, and had a couple of days with 7 tapes in 15 ducks. Usually I was averaging 4-5 tapes a day. With just passive +items and phat loot (no fairy, since I've completed the outfit and shirt), I'm getting anywhere from 0-2 a day now. I don't think the drop rate is as low as say... clockwork keys, but the 10-15 ducks a day makes them almost as tough. I would recommend checking out the 'Maximizing your item drops' page and buffing up a bit more.--[[User:J12601|J12601]] 15:38, 24 July 2007 (CDT) | *I'd say it's just a low drop rate. :That sounds consistent with a drop rate I saw. The fairy is only about 30% lower, so +500% would boost 6% to 36%, which is about a 1/3 chance of dropping, just like you saw. --[[User:Starwed|Starwed]] 15:44, 24 July 2007 (CDT) | :That sounds consistent with a drop rate I saw. Yeah I uh, added the duct tape sword and made a page for it. Anyone has a problem with that, send a pm/kmail to me in game. - 1:39AM EST July 2nd, 2007 --Xsmootx 00:39, 2 July 2007 (CDT)

References
Is the idea that "duct" tape drops from the ducks a reference, as when people say "duct tape" it can be heard as "duck tape?" Hence..."Duck" tape dropping from the ducks...Get it? Okay, good. Because I repeated myself like 3 times. *laughs* --Zedarius 00:43, 16 July 2007 (CDT)
- one of the most popular brands is "duck" tape, too, and the etymology would suggest that "duct" is a corruption of "duck" anyway. oh well. --Evilkolbot 01:17, 16 July 2007 (CDT)
- The etymologies of duct and duck are completely unrelated. Duct comes from the Latin "ductus," while duck comes from the German ("tauchen" or "ducken") or the Middle English ("duken" or "douken"). If you really care to know, duct tape was originally developed to seal ammunition cases, but people then adopted it for use on ventilation ducting... and just about everything else. the above unsigned comment was added by Dayv at 20:58, 16 July 2007
- did you read the wikipedia page? it implies that duct tape seems to be a corruption of duck tape. perhaps you should put them right. --Evilkolbot 07:15, 17 July 2007 (CDT)
- Better question... Did you read the wikipedia page, or it's discussion page? It pretty clearly states that the duck tape usage came after world war 2, and that the duct tape usage is in fact the original usage.--Creepy McCheese 17:35, 23 July 2007 (CDT)
Drop Rates based on something else?
I don't know about anyone else, but it seems like the drop rate on the Duct Tape is a little strange... When I helped clear the farm the first time, almost every duck dropped duct tape. After I finished the War Quest, when you could adventure at the farm like 10 times a day, I never got any duct tape until this last weekend (7/21, 7/22), when every duck dropped duct tape. Now, Monday, 7/23, none of them drop the duct tape again... I wonder if there is some connection between the drop rate and the moon or the calender days, or something... anyone see a similar pattern? --SeiferTim 11:34, 23 July 2007 (CDT)
- i'd have to agree that the drop rate on duct tape is very low, and possibly limited in the same way as say penguin scrolls, but i think your experience so far is just rng love. bumping drop rates i was getting 2/day before, but now, nothing. keep spading, perhaps i'm wrong and there is more to it. good luck. --Evilkolbot 11:56, 23 July 2007 (CDT)
- Are you using Jekyllin hide belts to farm them? --sl1me 12:46, 23 July 2007 (CDT)
- I'm farming them with a reasonably high drop rate (~275% today, I am using 2 jekyllin hide belts) and I'm only getting 1 or 2 a day, if I'm lucky. I got none today. It's pretty rare. --xcorvis 10:33, 24 July 2007 (CDT)
- I've mentioned this elsewhere, but in pickpocketing them I had a 6.5% yoink rate. (42/646 tapes.) But it did feel like there would be runs of good luck and bad luck... 50 adventures without any, and then 3 in the space of 10. Probably just RNG, though. Xcorvis: that's 1 or 2 a day out of how many combats? --Starwed 10:39, 24 July 2007 (CDT)
