bottle-rocket crossbow
bottle-rocket crossbow

This is a portable crossbow with a special attachment that lets it fire lit bottle rockets in addition to regular bolts. It's a combination of festive and deadly that could only be done justice by creating an entirely new word. I'd like to suggest "deastive."

Type: ranged weapon (1-handed crossbow)
Power: 100
Cannot be discarded

+15% Moxie
+15% Meat from Monsters
+10% Item Drop from Monsters
Shoots Bottle-Rockets!

Notes

  • July 2007's special of the month from Mr. Store.
  • Its Mr. Store description is/was:
A nifty weapon that lets you shoot bottle-rockets at your enemies. Those bottle-rockets do -- you guessed it -- various things!
  • This item was released a few days late due to NS13 delays.
  • This item was equippable in hardcore for a few minutes after release.
  • The +15% Moxie boost was non-functional for a few minutes after release.

References

  • Most likely a reference to Canada Day. The bottle-rocket is a firework, which are completely legal in Canada -- less legal in the United States. Betcha Jick didn't think aboot this, eh?
  • Less likely a reference to the Fourth of July, as bottle rockets are the cheapest firework available.
  • Inventing the word "deastive" to describe the crossbow is likely a reference to Kung Pow: Enter the Fist, specifically the scene in which The Chosen One deems killing people both bad and wrong, and decides it needs a new word: "badong"
  • "Deastive" could also be a reference to an early commercial for The Colbert Report, which described the show as "trustigious," a combination of "trustworthy" and "prestigious."
