Hats are worn by denizens of the Kingdom to keep their heads from getting sunburned (which they don't do) and to make them look cool (which they do variably well). Some people take the idea of hats to new extremes by wearing turtles or even other peoples' hair on their heads instead of a normal hat.
Fezzes (often called feces) are a common variety of hat in the Kingdom and there is even a unique one.
Some hats (mostly of the turtle variety) require a special skill to create and these can also be of special significance to Turtle Tamers. As an added bonus, a certain skill has the ability to double the power of hats, making the wearer even more protected (from the sun and otherwise).
