Shirts are pieces of clothing that can be worn on your torso, which of course requires you to be aware of your torso in the first place. So, unless you have the Torso Awaregness skill, shirts won't drop for you, and can't be crafted by you either.
Shirts come in different quality, sizes and shapes, and can be anything from a bikini top or supportive bra to a poncho or trench coat. Some shirts drop, others need to be made - such as the clockwork trench coat which is supertinkered, and the star shirt which can be obtained by combining stars. Of those that drop, some shirts reportedly only do so for either females or males only.
