As always, Don't forget to save the page.

Looking for help? We need some simple starter files to go in here.

For now, I've grabbed some info from Wikipedia and put it here: How to make a Wiki page

Note: When editing pages always fill in the "Summary" textbox saying what you did, it makes it easier to understand and navigate through a pages history. Before editng pages, look over the make a Wiki page so you understand the wiki's syntax, and as always, for KoL specific items, adventures, monsters, etc., look over the Proposed Standards and its accompanying discussion. Feel free to test things out in the Sandbox or in your profile. Also, never end a page name with a period!

Creating a Player Page

 • Either create a new page by following a link to the uncreated player page, or manually go to http://kol.thraeryn.org/wiki/PLAYER_NAME, where PLAYER_NAME is the KoL player name with underscores replacing spaces.
 • Edit the page from the edit tab, adding whatever content you so desire. Don't forget to save the page.

Adding a Player Page to the List of KoL Players

 • Use following category to add a player page to the player category which lists KoL players.
 • Note: Do NOT add to a wiki user page, such as User:PLAYER_NAME. It will list the page User:PLAYER_NAME under U in the kol player category, and that is very undesirable and leads to having a seasoned wiki editor grudgingly come and fix it for you. What you can do is to forward your User:PLAYER_NAME page to the PLAYER_NAME Kol character page. See the next section for details. Don't forget to save the page.

Forwarding a Wiki User Page to a KoL Player Page

 • First, create a KoL player page using the above section.
 • Now, open and edit you wiki user page, User:PLAYER_NAME, to redirect all traffic from coming to this User page to you player page, empty all text in the page and add only the text #REDIRECT PLAYER NAME, where PLAYER NAME is the KoL player page. Spaces are allowed: All spaces between the brackets will be read as underscores. Wiki page names do not have spaces in them. Now only one profile page has to be kept up to date. Don't forget to save the page.

Forwarding Player Page Discussion to a Wiki User Page Discussion

 • You may want to forward the player talk: page to the User talk: page. Talk is a fancy way of leaving comments about a page (in this case player), or having a related discussion. You can view or add to a pages discussion by clicking on the "Discussion" tab next to a pages "Edit" tab. Wiki users are notified by the wiki when new talk shows up on their User talk: page, so it would just make sense to have the KoL Player page talk redirected there. To forward all new KoL Player talk to the wiki User Talk: page, open and edit the kol player talk page, Talk:PLAYER_NAME, and add only the text #REDIRECT User talk:PLAYER NAME, where PLAYER NAME is the wiki user name. Now there will be only one talk page for PLAYER_NAME/User:PLAYER NAME, and the wiki user will be notfied of new discussion added. Don't forget to save the page.

Adding a Player Page to a Clan

 • Use the following template , where CLAN NAME is the name of a clan, spaces are allowed. After you save the page, you can follow the created wiki link to the clan's page, which you can then view, edit, or create if it does not yet exist.

Creating a Clan Page

 • Either create a new page by following a link to the uncreated clan page, or manually go to http://www.thekolwiki.net/wiki/CLAN_NAME, where CLAN_NAME is the KoL clan name with underscores replacing spaces.
 • Edit the page from the edit tab, adding whatever content you so desire.
 • To add the clan to the categorical list of all clan, add to the end of the page. If the clan starts with a "a" or "the", you may want to add a sort term to the clan. Defaultly, when page is added to a category, it is sorted by the page name, but if the clan starts with "the", the clan probably should not be listed under T for "the". To change where the clan is listed under the category add the following where SORT BY is what the clan will be listed under. For example, on a page named "The Kingdom of Loathing" would list "The Kingdom of Loathing" on the clan page under "K", instead of "T". It does not change the name displayed, only how the list is sorted. As always, Don't forget to save the page.

How to Post in Discussions/Talk Pages

 • When viewing a particular wiki page, if you would like to view the Talk for that page, click on that page's "Discussion" tab.
 • It is customary to use bullets (* in wiki syntax) and indents (: in wiki syntax) to post in/under an ongoing discussion.
 • Always sign your posts. The second last button on the edit toolbar will automatically add "Your signature with timestamp". It looks like this http://kol.thraeryn.org/w/skins/common/images/button_sig.png. It will add the following: --~~~~, which after the page is saved will become --WIKIUSERNAME TIME, DATE.

Marking Pages as Incomplete

 • Add the following template to add an unfinished/incomplete page to the Needs Work Category, , where COMMENT is a short description of what needs to be done.
 • Not marking unfinished/incomplete/nonformatted pages as Needs Work delays their completion, because no one may ever easily notice.
