Clancy (companion)

In an Avatar of Boris challenge path instead of a familiar you get Clancy, your trusty minstrel. Your minstrel Clancy will perform functions similar to a familiar and will change functionality depending on what instrument he is holding.

Instruments

Sackbut

• This is Clancy's starting intrument.
• Functionality: Restores HP and MP post-fight depending on his level (similarly to a Ghuol Whelp, but 100% of the time).
• At Clancy L. 1 Restores between 2-3 HP and MP
• Messages:

  Clancy makes loud raucous farting noises with his sackbut, which is a trick that never fails to make you laugh.

  Clancy tootles his sackbut; the hearty laugh you get from the phrase "tootles his sackbut" is quite refreshing.

  Clancy plays a rousing marching song on his sackbut, filling you with vigor and zest.

  Clancy blows a triumphant fanfare on his sackbut, filling you with the thrill of victory.

  Clancy plays a little tune on his sackbut, and you chuckle at how ridiculous he looks.

You gain some hit points.

Crumhorn

• Purchasable from Uncle P's Antiques for 2500 meat
• Functionality: Volleyball?
• Messages:

  Clancy plays an uplifting tune on his crumhorn. Did you ever blow on a comb with wax paper over it? Yeah, that's basically what it sounds like.

  Clancy plays you a tune on his crumhorn. It's a particularly farty-sounding instrument, which always lifts your spirits after a hard battle.

  You smile as Clancy belts out some hilarious farty sounds on his crumhorn. There's a minstrel that knows his audience.

Periodically Clancy wants your attention. His image changes depending on the instrument he is holding:

Levelling Up

Clancy does not level up like other familiars. He will encounter special adventures throughout the Kingdom that will serve to make him a better bard. In addition the Song of Accompaniment and More to Love skills will increase his level.

Familiar Items

Attempting to equip Clancy with a familiar item, even a non-familiar-specific one such as a miniature gravy-covered maypole, results in the message "You don't equip that item on the familiar that you don't have with you. Maybe you should take one out of your terrarium."
