  • The first time:

The hallway ends at an archway, which opens into a large square room. God, you're hungry. Hungry. Hungry. Hungry hungry hungry hungryhungryhungry.

As unobtrusively as possible, you poke your head through the archway to see what's in there. What's in there turns out to be three huge stone boxes topped with angry-looking skulls, surrounded by ten snarling, fire-breathing demons with bright red skin, each one the size of... well, I don't really know. A dog, I guess, but a really big dog, like a larger-than-average St. Bernard, or something. Except with its front legs really short and its hind legs much longer, so it walks in this sort of crouch? These are pretty weird-looking things, is what I guess I'm getting at. At the moment you're more concerned with the long sharp teeth and the aforementioned fire breathing, though.

As you stand pondering at the doorway, a fireball whizzes past your head, lightly singeing your ear. Crap, looks like they've spotted you.

  • Subsequently:

The hallway ends at an archway, which opens into a large square room. God, you're hungry. Hungry. Hungry. Hungry hungry hungry hungryhungryhungry.

Holding your stomach, you walk into the room, which is empty but for the scorch marks and gravel everywhere, evidence of the first time you came through here. You poke around the rubble to see if there's any more keys or anything, but no such luck. Looks like all you've got here is an exit to the south and another one to the west.

Go West
Go South

Notes

  • After killing the demons you find a key and receive a reminder to use it in doors:
Having made short work of the demons and their... stone box-things, you search through the rubble to see if they were guarding anything interesting or important. A glint of metal catches your eye, and you find a large brass key.
SAVE KEYS TO OPEN DOORS!
shouts the ever-present magic voice.
"Oh really?" you ask the ceiling. "Doors? Keys open doors? Not, for example, my butthole? Doors? Wow!"
You sigh, reflecting that slowly starving to death in a dungeon is making you rather testy, despite the nice shade of blue they used for the walls. Guess you'd better keep moving.
