- When the Yendorian Finery outfit was first introduced, Jick took a while to implement this tattoo. Until he did this, the generic message The Pretentious Artist would give for the outfit was:
- Jick forgot to make a tattoo for this outfit. Give it a few days.
References
- "Elbereth" is the name of a revered vala in J. R. R. Tolkien's fantasy universe, Middle-earth. In the game NetHack, engraving it will prevent monsters from attacking you (at least until you rub it out).
- "Elbereth" is an anagram and almost backwards version of "The Rebel", much like "Yendor" is an anagram and exact backwards version of "Rodney", the default name for a character in Rogue. (And Rebels show their individuality by getting tattoos of words in other languages, just like all the other rebels.)
