• May be based off of the movie "Mission: Impossible" where Ethan Hunt possessed an explosive device that looked like ordinary red and green chewing gum.
• Might also be based on SpongeBob SquarePants, in an episode titled, "Pranks a Lot," where a joke shop owner demonstrated some "Exploding Gum", causing Patrick's head to explode.
• Based on disgustingly-flavored gum that can be bought at joke shops.
