Mer-kin poseur You're fighting a Mer-kin poseur

This Mer-kin is always training at the Gymnasium. Well, okay, he's always hanging around the Gymnasium, wearing pristine workout gear and carrying a bottle of water, but no one's ever seen him actually get on a machine and break a sweat.

While you ponder how one can break a sweat underwater, or what a treadmill for a Mer-kin would look like, I suggest you get ready for an attack.

Hit Message(s):

He smacks you with his water bottle, then dabs his face with the towel around his neck. Ugh! Ugh! Oof!

He hits you with a medicine ball. Not even a spoonful of sugar would make it hurt less. Argh! Ooh! Ooh!

He whips you with the towel around his neck, then looks horrified that he might have sweat into his sweatband. Ouch! Eek! Ouch!

Critical Hit Message:

He wraps a jumprope around your neck and pulls it tight. You have two thoughts: 1) What are legless creatures doing with a jumprope, and 2) Man, it sucks having my airway and carotid artery block -- *thud.* Argh! Ouch! Eek!

Miss Message(s):

He starts to smack you with his water bottle, but doesn't want to mess up his hair.

He picks up a barbell, but is too weak to toss it at you. What a dumbbell.

He throws a medicine ball at you, but you decline to take your medicine.

He stands by the treadmill and chats with a trainer.

Fumble Message:

He takes a sip of his water bottle, walks over to the free weights and stands there a while, then walks back and says he couldn't find anyone to spot him. Then he yawns, dabs his face with his towel, and sighs. (FUMBLE!)

After Combat
You gain 80-120 Meat (average: 100, stdev: 8.56)*
You acquire an item: Mer-kin fitbrine (25% chance)*
You acquire an item: Mer-kin gutgirdle (5% chance)*

Occurs at Mer-kin Gymnasium.

Notes

  • This monster has a soft damage cap that kicks in if your attack would do more than 500 damage. The actual damage done in that case is (X-500)^.75 + 500, where X is the damage your attack would have done without the cap.
