• "It's you versus the volcano" is a reference to the movie Joe Versus the Volcano.
• "Mon Tiki" is a pun on "Kon-Tiki," the name of a notable raft constructed by anthropologist Thor Heyerdahl -- he claimed it to be the name of an Incan sun god -- and on Monchichi Mon Chi Chi, a series of disturbingly cute monkey dolls that were wildly popular in the early 1980s.
