You survey the crowd of gathered Adventurers as you approach the registration desk. Or the registration folding table, as the case may be. So cheap!
"Hello!" says the officious man behind the folding table. "You're here for the contests, I presume?"
"So," he continues, "the way this works is that I evaluate you to determine your starting place in each contest, and then you go wait in line for the contest to start. You only get one shot at the evaluation, so make sure you... wear extra cologne, or whatever it is you people do to prepare for these things..."
- When there's a contest you haven't entered yet:
You feel <feeling> about your chances in the <attribute> Adventurer contest.
- When you've entered a contest, but there are other Adventurers in front of you:
"You already entered the <attribute> Adventurer contest. You should go get in line and wait for it to start. My clipboard here says that there are X Adventurers in the contest besides you."
- or:
"You already entered the <attribute> Adventurer contest. You should go wait in line with the other Adventurers. It says here that there are X of them besides you."
- or:
"You already entered the <attribute> Adventurer contest. You should go wait with the other entrants. According to my clipboard here, there are X other Adventurers waiting."
- When you've entered a contest, and one other Adventurer is in front of you:
"You already entered the <attribute> Adventurer contest. You should go get in line and wait for it to start. It says here that the contest is current you and one other Adventurer. Hey, a 50/50 chance is pretty good, eh?"
- or:
"You already entered the <attribute> Adventurer contest. You should go wait in line with the other Adventurers. It says on my clipboard that only one other Adventurer besides you entered this one. So you should go wait in line with the other Adventurer, is what I meant to say."
- or:
"You already entered the <attribute> Adventurer contest. You should go wait with the other entrants. It says here that there's only one other person in that contest, actually. So go wait with the... entrant."
- When you've defeated the other contestants in a contest:
"You already entered the <attribute> Adventurer contest. You should go get in line and wait for it to start. Wait -- my clipboard says that you're the only Adventurer who entered. That can't be right, can it? Well, if it's true, then I guess you're definitely going to win!"
- or:
"You already entered the <attribute> Adventurer contest. You should go wait in line with the other Adventurers. Actually, wait -- it says here on my clipboard that you're the only entrant, so I guess you win that one by default."
Enter the <attribute> Adventurer contest |
The man pulls out a stopwatch and a pair of calipers, looks at you for a few seconds, and says "According to my evaluation, you qualify to start at rank #N in the Fastest Adventurer contest."
- or:
The man wraps a measuring tape around various parts of your body and declares that you are qualified to begin the contest at rank #N.
- or:
The man peers at you through a magnifying glass for a little while, then writes #N on his clipboard.
Leave for now |
- Exits the Registration Desk.
- When you have defeated all competing Adventurers:
You survey the crowd of gathered Adventurers as you approach the registration desk. Or the registration folding table, as the case may be. So cheap!
"Hello!" says the officious man behind the folding table. "You're here for the contests, I presume?" Hey, according to my clipboard, you're the only adventurer who entered any of the contests. I guess you win!
Why don't you head on in to the courtyard there to claim your prize."
The massive wooden door on the front of the Sorceress' Keep swings open with an ominous squeeeeeeeeeak.
Actually, it's more annoying than ominous. You'd think with all this bureaucracy they'd be about to keep a hinge oiled.
Claim your prize |
"Oh, wait! I almost forgot!" says the officious man. "This is for you." He hands you a sash, before sashaying off into the distance, carrying his folding table and his clipboard with him.
