• The Rogue Windmill may refer to the Moulin Rouge ('Red Windmill' in French).

• The Mouldering Mansion contains several references to the works of Edgar Allan Poe, who was also believed to be a frequent drinker of absinthe.

• In the movie Moulin Rouge (2001), the main characters drink absinthe. Also, there was much absinthe in the actual Moulin Rouge.
