The items from The Armory and Leggery need to added. --Wierd Ali 22:47, 17 April 2006 (CDT)

  • You could always add them if you wanted to...that is the least of the things that need to be added to this list, it is very out of date. --SomeStranger (Talk | Contribs) 22:52, 17 April 2006 (CDT)

Split 'em

These pages are too long to edit comfortably. Perhaps the tables could be subdivided further so that they have amaximum of twenty items in them. --Evilkolbot 12:43, 9 July 2006 (CDT)

Critera Query

Is there any criteria for items that have been found (at least once) to be non-zapable to move them to the list of non-zappable items, or does it just taking someone having the motivation to do it? i.e. Does it need to be confirmed by x number of people, or something? --NetWraith Sometime a day or two before --Wookie 00:24, 20 March 2007 (CDT)

  • Huh? The only items that haven't been confirmed on this list (of items starting with a number through be*) are the 17-ball and the Ascension Souvenir T-Shirt. Well, those and the Acqua Del Piatto Merlot and Acque Luride Grezze Cabernet from the Mafia Wines group haven't really been confirmed. The things in the bold red font. If an item doesn't zap for someone it's not going to zap for anybody. It is possible (although unlikely it wouldn't be publicly announced) that an item that has already been tested is changed to zap into something (such as the Lucky Tam O'Shanter). This is why some of the items have the "Confirmed [DATE]" comment on them. The "Zap Test Comment" isn't for exactly what the text displayed as a result of zapping an is; all items that don't zap display the same message (other than the item name of course).

And if you were talking about listing items on this list of non-zappable items don't even bother. Personally I don't think that that list should even exist. If someone wants to see if an item has been tested they can go to the alphabetical page and find the item there. Odds are if it's not listed on the "What Can Be Zapped" list, it's not zappable. I feel this list is too cumbersome to maintain, not to mention that there are exceptions (both listed and not). For example, familiar equipment is listed but there is an obvious exception, the Lucky Tam O'Shanter, a item that became zappable for the sole purpose that it could zap into something clever. Nothing would stop them from making the 668 scroll zappable one day into say, well, something clever, but that would render the fact that saying advanced scrolls aren't zappable pointless. The same thing goes for quest items. Currently no quest items are zappable, but who is to say that this won't change in the future. For all we know with NS13 the zap quest might be required (although in this case the mechanics would have to change to allow people with broken wands to be able to reobtain them). Or it could be optional. Like the Manual of Transmission may be zappable into one of the other manuals. Something that doesn't even require the user to do, just something extra they can do if they want. Basically what I'm trying to say is, the dev team chooses which items are going to be zappable. Why are we even trying maintain a list when a new item (or newly zappable item) in any one of the categories could cause an exception. --TheDotGamer 06:55, 20 March 2007 (CDT)
    • Oh, okay. I think what I was getting at, was that the way the main zapping page had been written, was that this list (and the others by alphabetical name) appeared to be a list of items still needing testing, not a complete list of all items, w/ zapping info. I understand that if it won't zap for me it won't zap for anyone (at least not unless/until it gets changed.) So my previous question was based on that assumption...when do items get moved from the list of "needs testing" to the list of "Doesn't Zap", or list of "Zappable items". Now, upon reading your response, and going back to the page, I see that I was mistaken, this is just part of the total list. Was just trying to help. Now I see that the testing needed list is much much shorter. Oh well. Happy Loathing! --Wookie 01:08, 27 March 2007 (CDT)

Format?

I see lots of "Confirmed" in the list. What does this mean? Also, I'll be able to update this list once I get another blasted wand. --Oneequalstwo 17:21, 18 October 2009 (UTC)

Splitting again

KoL now has more than 10,000 items. These pages and tables are becoming uncomfortably long. They are long overdue for a fix.

Using KoLmafia, I counted the number of items that start with the same letter (case-insensitive):

First letter of name Number of items
Numbers and special characters 58
A 408
B 881
C 909
D 573
E 298
F 488
G 597
H 381
I 183
J 108
K 136
L 356
M 660
N 142
O 190
P 775
Q 19
R 415
S 1314
T 835
U 117
V 129
W 364
X 36
Y 73
Z 27
Total 10472

Aiming for a soft maximum of 500 items per page, we could group them like this:

  • 1-A: 466
  • B: 881
  • C: 909
  • D: 573
  • E: 298
  • F: 488
  • G: 597
  • H: 381
  • I-K: 427
  • L: 356
  • M: 660
  • N-O: 332
  • P: 775
  • Q-R: 434
  • S: 1314
  • T: 835
  • U-V: 246
  • W-Z: 500
