Talk:Poison Damage
Huh, no discussion yet? Okay....
I took a high-level turtle tamer and ran him through the Worm Wood, as the Monster Level is always 125. Here's what I found:
- With no weapon, no bonuses (passive or otherwise) and Deadly Lampshade effect, poison averaged 20% and fell between 16.7% to 24.8%. (28 samples)
- With no weapon and +125 bonus weapon damage, plus Deadly Lampshade, poison averaged 21% and fell between 16.7% to 23.7%. (7 samples)
- With no weapon and +95 bonus weapon damage, plus Deadly Lampshade, poison averaged 20% and fell between 17.0% to 23.7% (6 samples)
- With no weapon, +125 and +35% bonus weapon damage, plus Deadly Lampshade, poison averaged 15.8% and fell between 12.4% and 17.8%. If damage is adjusted for the percentage-based weapon damage, poison had normal average and min/max. (19 samples)
- With elephant stinger, +85 and +175% bonus weapon damage, poison averaged 7%. Adjusted for pct bonus weapon damage, average is 20%. (4 samples).
I also gathered a few other datasets, but the last one really clinched it. Poison is based on based and bonus weapon damage, but not percentage weapon damage. I still need to confirm the low is 15%, because right now the low is 16.6666% across all datasets.

A little more: I lowered muscle to the point where I would still hit stone age hippies, but only do 1 damage. I then added bonus weapon damage to the point where I would hit for 100 each time. In 67 attempts (with Deadly Lampshade in effect), I did 16-25 in Poison Damage, never 15. Oddly, with 100 Bonus Damage, I would have thought the damage would be 101 (1 from the hit, 100 from Bonus), so that might be affecting it as well.-Foggy (talk) 16:31, 18 June 2014 (UTC)
- isn't 100 to be expected?. you were doing 0 weapon damage rounded up to one because you always do at least one. --Evilkolbot (talk) 16:38, 18 June 2014 (UTC)
Boosted bonus weapon damage to 200 and got a 33-50 range. My guess is that it rounds down, but I'm still not sure the actual percentage. Tomorrow I'll work with actual weapons and test at high values. Overall, the lowest percentage I've gotten so far is 16.5493% (47/284). However, if it were simply 1/6 rounded down, 284 would yield 47. So right now, working theory: 1/6 to 1/4.-Foggy (talk) 18:51, 18 June 2014 (UTC)
With Deadly Lampshade and absolute bonus weapon damage/trivial enchantment only (bonedanna, giant gym membership card, anniversary safety vest, slime-covered shovel, alpha-mail pants, cyborg stompin' boot, orange leather lanyard, shin gourds) adventured for 83 rounds and got the following results:
- Poison percentage at its low was .16624 (262 of 1576). In this instance, poison is still equal to damage/6 rounded down.
- Poison percentage at its high was .24968 (393 of 1574). In this instance, poison is still equal to damage/4 rounded down.
- Overall average is .20792. Note that 15-25% has an average of 20%, but 1/6-1/4 has an average of .20833, which is closer to the average found.
I think I can safely say poison does W/6-W/4, where W is the initial damage done, not count percentage bonus weapon damage. I'll update the page AFTER I try the various poison weapons. -Foggy (talk) 14:09, 19 June 2014 (UTC)
