The only thing I've tried that seems to work is a shard of double-ice. But the smoking grass can be pickpocked and rave pickpocketed, so there's that.--Noskilz 07:33, 17 June 2012 (CEST)

  • almost forgot - disintegration also works normally.--Noskilz 07:35, 17 June 2012 (CEST)
  • Worth mentioning that only the first shard of double-ice used does significant damage, all subsequent ones (including a second funkslung simultaneously with the first) only do 1 pt. DaveK 11:23, 17 June 2012 (CEST)
    • That's probably related to the double-ice's effect changing the monster's element to cold... probably it works differently from "normal" combat items.--Octagon8 14:05, 18 June 2012 (CEST)

Can also drop something called a "hot egg" which is usable--Noskilz 07:50, 17 June 2012 (CEST)

  • But yellow ray doesn't get it, so it's probably quite rare. *sigh* --KingBobson 07:53, 17 June 2012 (CEST)

Siphoned a zoodriver, so it's a beast.--Noskilz 07:57, 17 June 2012 (CEST)

725 advs with +150% item drop, one hot egg dropped in total. given it doesn't appear on a YR, i would think it's a conditional drop like melange. i also wonder if maybe it's one per account... that would be totally like jick. ;) --Techrat 08:02, 17 June 2012 (CEST)

At least at the moment, they are copyable (used a black box)--Noskilz 08:49, 17 June 2012 (CEST)

In case anyone wondered, frigidalmation does 1pt of damage per round against these things - but that seems to be the case for everything I've tried except for shards of double-ice, disintegration and firing a blue bottle-rocket. --Noskilz 09:17, 17 June 2012 (CEST)

Seems to be immune to spell damage (reduced to 1)? The fire axe works well, with a guaranteed 200 pts cold damage per hit. --Riznok 10:24, 17 June 2012 (CEST)

There have been reports on the forums of two hot eggs dropping at once. We should probably look into this. --KingBobson 10:39, 17 June 2012 (CEST)

So I have a question... what is this monster's weakness, if it has one? I've seen the strategies others have used, but is there a way to kill the snake at, for example, a lower level with limited access to skills and items (Ronin or Hardcore, for example)? Not everyone has access to things that would make it easy to beat. --TheNachomancer 11:26, 17 June 2012 (CEST)

Beating it to death with cold damage seems to be it, so stock up on freezerburned ice cubes. Jiggling a staff of the walk-in freezer also did some damage. Not much, though. --Johnny Treehugger 13:40, 17 June 2012 (CEST)

first hit message reference

  • i don't get it. indians are, what exactly? stingy? constantly lied to and stolen from? help an aged brit out, would you? --Evilkolbot 13:58, 18 June 2012 (CEST)

Critical hit?

"It crawls from your <lower back> to your <neck>, burning them both and everything in between."

  • This attack seems to do significantly more damage. Is it ignoring resistances or something? --Itsatrap 09:22, 17 June 2012 (CEST)
  • It's not a hot attack, which is odd. That would account for the high damage compared to the other attacks. —Yendor 11:50, 17 June 2012 (CEST)
    • is it really "<arse> to your <arm>" or just "head to your foot"? --Evilkolbot 13:58, 18 June 2012 (CEST)

Movie Reference

The whole encounter seems to be a reference to the movie "Snakes on a Plane" or at least it feels that way to me.

Defense

I don't think the defense is 162. My buffed muscle is 170 and I can only land criticals. --Versusthemayor 09:54, 17 June 2012 (CEST)

  • At 190 muscle, I hit every time. I'm assuming the defense is at least 176 or more. --Versusthemayor 10:20, 17 June 2012 (CEST)
  • Mostly missing at 175 muscle, mostly hitting at 185 muscle. --Itsatrap 18:11, 17 June 2012 (CEST)

I have the Space Trip safety headphones on, and I'm not hitting at all at 136 muscle. Is it not affected by -ML? --Deus Ex Machina (Talk) 20:26, 17 June 2012 (CEST).

Never mind, it's working now. I must've done something wrong. --Deus Ex Machina (Talk) 21:42, 17 June 2012 (CEST)

Coldform

Seems to be weak to coldform, weapon does normal damage while in coldform - AvangionQ 16:03, 17 June 2012 (CEST)

Bonus cold weapon damage

Seems to be weak to bonus cold damage ... fire axe, ice-cold beer ring, glacial clock, etc ~ these do normal damage. - AvangionQ 16:03, 17 June 2012 (CEST)

Monster Level

Does anyone know if you get the monster's hit points above 1000, you can get an extra commendation for killing it?--Elbie 18:11, 17 June 2012 (CEST)

  • How about, instead, boosting the shit out of your muscle and trying to one-shot it for 4 commendations? ~Erich t/c 21:57, 17 June 2012 (CEST)
  • Ok, I did just that, and hit it for 1500 damage. It only drops 3 commendations, doesn't scale, and only gave me +1 for the hat. So, it's not worth the muscle boost, or an HP boost. ~Erich t/c 22:04, 17 June 2012 (CEST)

Combat item, offhand damage

The text on the page about only weapons doing damage is wrong. I've got a double-ice box dealing out cold to beat the band and combat items will deal substantial damage on the first use only, then do 1 damage per use thereafter. -Captain Video 02:04, 18 June 2012 (CEST)

  • Looks like cold familiar damage works too. (Tested with Snow angel and ninja snowflake) --Theerf 05:15, 19 June 2012 (CEST)

Hot Egg drop rate

A lot of people in our clan seem to be getting the hot egg who have both the fire hat and axe equipped. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Stonecat (talkcontribs)

Correlation is not causation. A ton of people are using the helmet + axe because it's the fastest and most commendable way to kill them. It's not really proof of anything.--Toffile 16:08, 18 June 2012 (CEST)

250 turns with hat and axe and no egg. Hot Grass seems to be dropping at about 10% base rate over 500 turns.--Jirikki 21:42, 18 June 2012 (CEST)

I have close to 400 turns with no egg drop, with +190% items, fire helmet and axe. Just means a really low drop rate. edit: just got my first hot egg at over 600 advs and while running 250% +items, I bet it's just a 1% drop like a spice melange.--Uzziah 23:31, 18 June 2012 (CEST)

  • wouldn't you expect 15 eggs over 600 turn at 2.5%? i know nothing about statistics. --Evilkolbot 00:17, 19 June 2012 (CEST)
  • I wonder if the egg drop is based on the number of times you've fought the snakefire? --Riznok 05:52, 19 June 2012 (CEST)
    • If so, then the first 300-something Adventures aren't enough to trigger a drop. --Yatsufusa 05:56, 19 June 2012 (CEST)
      • I was thinking it might be in the ballpark of around 600 fights. --Riznok 06:01, 19 June 2012 (CEST)
        • Don't mean to be a bother, but most definitely not. I got one after 6 turns. Argus 07:07, 19 June 2012 (CEST)
  • Other possibilities: Perhaps it's based on the total number of adventures you've spent in any of the brushfire areas. Or perhaps on the number of commendations you've earned. --Riznok 07:43, 19 June 2012 (CEST)
    • If Jick wanted the hot egg to be accessible only by the top farmers, he could have simply put it into the shop for commendations. Maybe the drop-chance is below 1%, making the drop equally (im-)possible for every kind of player. Also: I think this is how religions start... ;) --Yatsufusa 08:46, 19 June 2012 (CEST)
      • +items generally still affects such drop rates the same, so it's still more possible for the high-end players with access to the best gear and buffs. Sub-1% just makes it so everyone starts freaking out and positing a new crazy theory every time someone says they saw it to drop. --Flargen 09:43, 19 June 2012 (CEST)
