- This item is available from The "Fun" House as both a regular drop and as a ten-leaf clover drop.
- Can also be obtained by using a Crimbo pressie from Crimbo 2003 or a present.
- Attempting to combine a box with a wang yields the message "Shame on you." (This message is not yielded when using The Plunger to combine them.)
- This item's original enchantment was "Carrying Capacity +30".

- The plural "boxen" may reference Brian Regan's "Stupid In School" routine.
- "-xen" is also a commonly used plural suffix for words ending with an X in the *NIX community, later appropriated by the l33t subculture.
- The prototype word for "-en" plurals is ox/oxen, so boxen may not be consciously referencing anything besides that.
