Hermit Clover Distribution (pre-nerf)

As long as forever i've been noticing ten-leaf clovers appearing not randomly, but on stat days. If I'm not crazy, somebody please confirm this. --The preceding unsigned comment was added by Dehstil (talkcontribs) at 18:31, 10 April 2006 (CDT).

  • It's 50/50. Really. --Ricket 18:34, 10 April 2006 (CDT)
  • While I cannot confirm that you're not crazy, I can confirm that today is a stat day and there are no clovers. Stubblyhead 01:00, 20 May 2006 (CDT)
  • It seems to appear every other day.--Zeta Aspect 21:13, 26 September 2006 (CDT)

Hermit Clover Distribution (post-nerf)

Umm..... It's not every day- I have literally no clovers in the Hermit today. (Oct 8 2006) --The preceding unsigned comment was added by Mojotech (talkcontribs) at 01:11, 8 October 2006 (CDT).

  • Same here, same date. --Unnatural20 02:22, 8 October 2006 (CDT)
  • yup. is it back to 50/50 now, and you get 2-5 clovers if there are, number different for each player? or perhaps it's 0-5, number the same. a table maybe? --Evilkolbot 06:41, 8 October 2006 (CDT)
  • Yes, the Hermit doesn't have any clover for me today either. I don't think it's a 50/50 though (like the old drought days), simply because we've been very lucky so far if it were. Maybe it's more like a 0-5 range rather than a 2-5 range. --Eevle 20:26, 8 October 2006 (EDT)
    • Eevle, the fact that everybody had none on Oct 8th (when we had different numbers different days) implies that clovers are the same as they used to be, except now clover days are unlimited. (Completely destroying the spice loop.) I didn't think of this as a nerf before, but now... --Unnatural20 20:31, 8 October 2006 (CDT)
      • Recent evidence (a frequent dearth of clovers lately) suggests that you are correct, Unnatural20; it seems that the (hopeful) idea that clovers were available more often, just in small numbers, is false. It is indeed a nerf, and the spice loop is pretty much dead, unless you only need a few... Furthermore, while clover prices are going up, it's not really possible to farm them (or clover-related objects) either. --Eevle 00:59, 16 October 2006 (CDT)
  • I have 6 clovers in-hermit today and received 7 via 3 31337 scrolls. There may be no limit.--Stepinrazor 12:25, 9 October 2006 (CDT)
  • Also, relating to clover/day trends, has anyone investigated if it is somehow related to moon phases? I've casually noticed there seems to be a correlation between the amount of light on a given day and the amount of clovers the hermit has available. -Jocken, 11/6, 11:57am
  • I've never, ever had any less than 3 from the hermit. I've only had 3-6 clovers from there. I've been playing this for about 4 months now and I've been on most days. Is this an error on the wiki?--Siamese 17:29, 15 January 2007 (CST)
    • Have you freed the king but not ascended? There is a 2+ bonus to available clovers after kicking the prism.--DirkDiggler 21:00, 15 January 2007 (CST)
      • are you sure about this? i've never seen it. all characters get the same number of clovers if they're available all the time. --Evilkolbot 01:20, 16 January 2007 (CST)
  • I'm not sure if this is valid or not, because it's a small sample-size, but I used Noblesse Oblige's Calendar Search Facility to examine if there could have been any change in the probability of a clover day appearing since it was changed to be a limited number per day. I wondered if it would be significant or not:
    • After the change on October 3 2006: 89 out of 123 days have had clovers in stock. That's 72.3%
    • Before the change , between April 25 2006 and October 2 2006 (which is as far back as the archives seem to go): 83 out of 163 days had clovers. 50.9%.--Valandilv 13:25, 4 February 2007 (CST)

Clover Damage Bonus?

When I was using Extreme Ray of Something it seemed like I did about 20 more damage when I had a ten-leaf clover. I was fighting the Bonerdagon and goats at the goatlet. Is it just me or am I onto something? (also seemed to work with Weapons of the Pastalord)(Is it just skills or is normal combat damage affected?)--Tornan Steel 09:11, 9 July 2006 (CDT)

  • The clover doesn't do that; the 20 extra damage could be attributed to elemental damage or your mind.--Dehstil (t|c) 12:11, 13 July 2006 (CDT)
  • it's neither, just the rng screwing with your head. --Evilkolbot 12:10, 13 July 2006 (CDT)

Drop Locations

Should we put the Hermitage in the "Drop Location" thingy? I know it's not technically a drop there, but it's just as misleading when it appears to say (at first glance) that the Shore is the main place you get clovers.--Johnthescavenger 00:35, 22 June 2006 (CDT)

  • No. Then we'd have to put things like "Pastamastery" as a drop location for dry noodles.--Hunter tRG 20:08, 7 October 2006 (CDT)
  • Perhaps the "drop location" information should be changed to cover all "in-game sources," obviously excluding the mall, the flea market, and trading. This may be clearer for items which don't drop (like hilarious objects for example), or items, like noodles, which may be gotten with player skills. The tag of "in-game source" could also be applied to the buffs or items from which certain effects originate. This way the hermitage would fall under the clover's "in-game source." -Jocken, 11/6, 11:57am
    • You're suggesting a fairly major change in how game data is presented. Accordingly, this suggestion would be better made over at Proposed Standards. However, I doubt that the suggestion would be adopted. --Gymnosophist 13:24, 6 November 2006 (CST)

New Clover Drop

Theres a new clover drop - I received a clover from the Enormous Greater-Than Sign area. --Grimdel 23:25, 10 October 2006 (PST)

  • Because I have to ask - is your star sign currently the Marmot? - The Wrassedragon 01:42, 11 October 2006 (CDT)
  • Arg - you are correct (Marmot). - Grimdel 22:11, 11 October 2006 (PST)

References

Wasn't there a prisoner who had the world largest 4 leafed clover collection? But he found all _leaves up to 9. So then the 10 leafed clover is really lucky? --The preceding unsigned comment was added by Laststand (talkcontribs) at 15:44, 28 July 2006 (CDT).

  • Not really. They're just saying the more leaves the better. Nothing to do with prisoners or anything.--Hunter tRG 20:10, 7 October 2006 (CDT)
  • Never mind, it was 6 7-leafed clovers Laststand 09:47, 5 November 2006 (CST)

Inflation

Has anyone else noticed the really big clover inflation? About a month ago, clovers cost 1000 meat only. Now a days they cost 6000+. Is it just me, because I haven't been on recently? Cheeetar 11:18, 14 November 2006 (AEST)

  • It's because the Hermit only stocks limited clovers now (when he stocks them at all), so they've become more scarce. - The Wrassedragon 06:12, 29 November 2006 (CST)

Gallery clover advs are 2x main stat +/- a small amount -- see Strangerer's post on IP public forums (reg. required)--DirkDiggler 04:40, 1 January 2007 (CST)

I just noticed something regarding clover adventures.

Normally, when you adventure somewhere with a clover adventure, you're guaranteed to get the clover adventure on the first time. However, I used mine at the gallery, and the first time I merely found an Oyster Egg, with no clover consumption. I wonder if anything else can possibly take priority over a clover adventure? --Missingno 17:11, 5 February 2007 (CST)

  • Feast of Boris adventures also do this. Rumour has it that the FoB adventures can trump the NS, which must be quite a pain if you only have one adventure left in which to ascend.--Valandilv 20:12, 5 February 2007 (CST)
    • I believe that finding the Lab Key will also win out over a clover. --Hellion 23:47, 5 February 2007 (CST)
  • I believe that typically "non-adventure consuming adventures," other than those by choice may take priority over clover adventures. Most notable are what have been mentioned, acquiring the Lab Key and Oyster Eggs. I wonder if there are any others. I do find it interesting that the Feast of Boris adventures also prioritize ahead of clover adventures though. --TheDotGamer 08:27, 6 February 2007 (CST)
