Talk:The Opossum
Here, it says you get 0-3 extra advs. per food, but on the zodiac sign page it says 0-1. Which is it? -Fwahobadagadz 15:11, 18 July 2006 (CDT)
Tangentially (and perhaps nitpickingly), doesn't it always grant 0-# extra adventures? --MC Scared of Bees 21:45, 27 August 2006 (CDT)
Gift Cakes
To help determine the precise effect of this sign; I'll start by eating gift cakes.
Mugcake: 20 consumed; each gave only 1 adventure (i.e. no extra adventures). Does this sign give any adventure gains to other 1-fullness, 1-adventure food? --TheArchivist 22:15, 28 November 2006 (CST)
Urinal Cake: 10 consumed; 2 of them gave me 1 extra adventure. --TheArchivist 22:42, 29 November 2006 (CST)
But then we know it can give 0 extra adventures. I'm changing it. --Tularion 08:02, 18 March 2007 (CDT)
I'm changing it back, given that the sign occasionally granting 0 adventures makes absolutely no sense. "It occasionally grants 1-3 additional adventures" already allows for the possibility, perhaps even the probability, of it granting 0.
Has no-one spaded the exact bonus from this yet? Does it follow a similiar pattern to Wallaby, or is the adventure bonus directly related to they type of food only? --Starwed 09:20, 18 March 2007 (CDT)
Well, I just ate 25 bananas under the Opossum sign, and they gave 27 adventures. Here's my hypothesis: The Opossum adds 10%, rounding decimals like stat points. --Poochy 00:55, 7 April 2007 (CDT)
Got Milk combo
I've been testing Got Milk with Oppossum to see how much I'd get with sleazy hi mein. 15 eaten, giving 29 (6 times), 30 (3 times), 31 (once), 32 (twice), 33 (once), 34 (twice).
Average is 30.6, but what's weird is how bottom heavy it is. Got Milk should give me +4, but I should have a low of 25.--Foggy 14:56, 30 October 2007 (CDT)
- What are you trying to spade here? The interaction is known. Hi meins with opossum give 24-31 adventures, and with milk this is raised to 28-35 adventures. Opossum doesn't fire every now and then for extra adventures, it fundamentally changes the range of possible adventure gains.-QuantumNightmare 15:13, 30 October 2007 (CDT)
- If the interaction is known, you should give us a link to the spading data, or better yet update the article. From reading the article right now, I would have guessed that Opossum would add a flat +3 adventure to hi meins. --PlatypusNinja 14:57, 7 November 2007 (CST)
- And you would be almost correct. Since hi meins are hi quality foods, they have a minimum opossum gain of higher that 1 as stated in the article. As I had wrote in the article. In fact, the gain is 2-3. With got milk, you have a combined bonus of 6-7 adventures. This minimum adventure gain is different for each food, and is not some simple relationship that can be displayed like for got milk. Speak to Quietust if you think this data should be displayed for each food - I think it should, but this information was removed last time I tried to start adding it.
- This information was spaded a few months back by darthdud.--QuantumNightmare 16:34, 7 November 2007 (CST)
- I think it would be worth putting a link to darthdud's spading results on the Opossum page. I'd also be personally interested in seeing those results. --PlatypusNinja 16:49, 7 November 2007 (CST)
- There were no conclusions drawn from HCO's study of opossum, as it was a technical discussion of game mechanics. The Size and Quality page on the wiki was the main product of the debate, as we first needed to study S&Q before opossum could be nailed down. Neither project has been completed, and both appear to be abandoned. For reference, here is the link: http://jick-nerfed.us/forums/viewtopic.php?t=3487. And I would advice against insulting spades when they post findings on the wiki.--QuantumNightmare 19:53, 7 November 2007 (CST)
Foods with no level
Ate some asparaguses and tomatoes, both only give 1 adventure normally, and for some reason after about mixed total of 50 eaten (on separate days), I only got 50 adventures. It's likely that the possibility of the extra gain is applied only to foods that have an actual level shown in their description. --Zacharous 08:54, 17 September 2008 (UTC)
