Finding KoL via a pointer from a forum which he used to frequent, Kareth quickly found himself hooked. As an ex-player of various roleplaying games (Runequest, Call of Cthulhu, Traveller and Advanced Dungeons and Dragons among them) he was intrigued by the gaming system and the offbeat style of the world.

Stumbling through the game by a combination of trial and error, dumb luck and the odd spoiler site, Kareth hadn't even entered the chat until reaching about level 10, when a chance click took him to /trade wherein lurked great people like Aprocalypse, Ares_God_of_War, AubriAnne, Birdy, BunnyBabs, Buxton, Dragoonz, Fab, Grumpy_olde_farte, Janitor, Kalira, Lady Auron, LaurDragon, Pixelwitch, Poad, Soleil Bellefontaine, Sunday, SuperSandy, Wicana and TinyZu - not forgetting the fabulous Idiania, in Kareth and many others' opinion the best /trade mod in the history of KoL (with apologies to Arbitrage, bestower of the biggest free buffs ever seen by most players). Fairly soon afterwards he was chatting to a member of The Goddess's Knights and, still being clanless and coveting extra adventures, joined. Unfortunately, this was only a short time before SexyGoddess disbanded the clan in a fit of pique... After a brief time clanless once more, in December 2004 Pixelwitch honoured Kareth with an invitation to join the then recently-formed Pier 11 and he was delighted to accept. He's been there ever since and wouldn't want to be anywhere else.

Kareth killed time until the implementation of ascension by playing the stat whore / basement game, as well as selling items on to collectors such as Apple Blossom, ashamalee and Mystery. Continued postponements to that long-awaited event meant Kareth was at level 41 when it finally rolled out, having achieved his pre-ascension goal of 1,000 in each stat. Honour demanded that he therefore delay ascending a little longer, in order to reach level 42 as a mark of respect to DNA, of course... This landmark achieved, Kareth embraced ascension with five SoftCore runs to check out the post-ascension content and the playing characteristics of the other classes, before embarking on a series of Hardcore Oxygenarian runs which should keep him amused for the forseeable future...
