RE: ???
The local rattlesnakes have learned to move very carefully without rattling, so they can sneak up on the mountain lions that are their only source of food. A mountain lion is a lot of food for a rattlesnake, so they've gotten really sick of it; upon seeing you, this one has gone totally crazy and is rattling up a storm.
RE: Wagon Train Escort Wanted
Ordinarily, you could just ignore a rattlesnake in this situation. A rattlesnake knows better than to attack something as large as a horse (or a wagon train), after all. However, it's a long ride, and you're getting pretty bored.
Hit Message(s):
The rattler gives you a nasty bite on the thigh. Really, any snake bite on the thigh is going to be a nasty one. Ooh! Ow! Ooh! Ow!
The rattler bites you on the <ankle>, which swells up like a balloon -- presumably to make it easier to bite a second time. Argh! Ugh! Ugh! Ugh!
The rattler bites you and fills you up with venom without any warning at all! Come on man, isn't that what the rattle is for? (CRITICAL HIT!) Argh! Ouch! Ouch! Ugh!
The rattler starts to bite you, then realizes it forgot to rattle first.
