A Boarding Party
As you swim through the park, you see a couple of ice skates squaring off against a couple of roller skates. The ice skates are slapping their fins together in unison, and the roller skates are flexing their muscles -- this is about to be an ugly scene. You swim up and address them.
"Look, guys," you say, "why are you fighting each other? You're all skates, after all. The more you fight amongst yourselves, the more some airbreather is going to come up and beat the crap out of all of you with a skate board. Divided, you fall."
A roller skate sneers at you. "Yeah, I don't think that's gonna ha -- OW! OW! Oh, dear god! The blood!"
When the sediment settles, all of the skates in the fight have fled. Here's hoping they learned a valuable lesson.
