A Foxy Proposal
As you wander through the Arrrboretum, you see a guy dressed in a lab coat, holding an adorable baby fox. "Hey," you say, "what are you doing?"
The scientist shows you that he's tied a scroll to a collar on the fox's neck. "You see," he says, "we're trying to come up with a better, safer way to transmit messages throughout the Kingdom. We used to just send messages out with explorers, but they were slow, unreliable, and prone to picking up bugs. Foxes are much more stable."
"Wow," you say, "so the foxes will actually deliver messages for you?"
"Well," he says, "we're still refining the idea. We found that the foxes have a pretty short attention span, but I postulate that lighting the fox's tail on fire will keep it focused. Watch!"
You watch, horrified, as the scientist strikes a match and holds it to the fox's tail. Then you walk over, punch the scientist, grab the fox, and put out the fire. The fox responds by biting your hand and scampering back into the forest.
"Ah, well," the scientist says, "that's one of the problems we encounter when we make our ideas available for everyone to comment on and change. Back to the drawing board."
You plant your sapling and walk off, thinking about foxes and fire.
