And maybe established guidelines for the following besides the creation help at Help:Contents

  • Clan Pages
    • When I looked at those in Proposed Standards, I really wasn't sure if that warranted a standard for the bulk of wiki editors, or if that was just a stylish thing to put in your player page. As for the larger issue of clan pages, I really don't have any standards to go by. I mean, some are clones of Trog Dor's stuff, and the rest are really just whatever the relevant people want to do with them. They mostly seem more like vanity pages than informational pages. Which brings me to my next commnet... --Alpaca 22:09, 26 November 2005 (Central Standard Time)
  • Player Pages
    • There's a rather large, unresolved discussion going on about this, and so I really don't have any guidelines. I suppose we could make a note about a few obvious things, like that you shouldn't use this as a freewebs site, or that you shouldn't be some other sort of obnoxious bandwidth vampire. I guess we do need a set of guidelines for vanity pages in general. Hmm.... --Alpaca 22:09, 26 November 2005 (Central Standard Time)

A specific question, related to a statistical compilation I've started: If I wish to indicate the chance of an item drop on a given monster in the location page and in the page describing the monster, what format do you think this inclusion should take / do you think I should just leave this information out of the wiki? --Yiab 05:36, 12 December 2005 (Central Standard Time)

Horizontal Scrolling

The horizontal scrolling is annoying - perhaps use <code> instead of the initial-space automatic <pre>, and break up the arguments of templates to different lines. AySz88^-^ 01:45, 16 December 2005 (Central Standard Time)

  • Arg. I attempted to make it a <div> using Template:Example, but that screws up newlines and spacing... Also b/c of the <nowiki> tags being passed into it. Stupid preformatted text (<pre>) and its unrulely widths. Hmmm. --JRSiebz (|§|) 02:36, 16 December 2005 (Central Standard Time)
    • Hmm, what's generating the <pre> tags? There aren't any in the page text that I can find. Does starting a line with a space to get the box also enable the <pre> formatting? For a suggestion, what about <tt> instead? That would get you the monospaced font, but should allow lines to wrap instead of going on forever. -- Old Ned 03:58, 16 December 2005 (Central Standard Time)

A Bug?

The image CrimboHat.gif appears in the top left corner of the page (over the E in Established Standards) instead of where it should. Is this happening for everyone else? I looked at the template for toymaking and a couple of similar ones, and the toymaking one is different... --Payback 15:49, 22 March 2006 (CST)

Breaking up....

Should this page be broken up into smaller pieces? It's a bit confusing and overwhelming to look at this whole page... But perhaps making an Established Standards:Item Pages page and an Established Standards:Location Pages page, etc... might make it a bit less daunting to learn the standards? This page could then keep its current listing at the top and point off to the other pages.... Opinions on this? --jin 20:00, 8 April 2006 (CDT)

P.S. Hi, long time no see!  :)
  • I was just about to suggest the same thing. --RyokoYahagi 15:03, 12 April 2006 (CDT)
  • There is a little more urgency to this now. I'm getting a warning message that some browsers will have problems editing this page if it gets any larger, and we still have three Page Type Standards to add. We should probably break the Page Type Standards out into their own pages. I could tackle this, but does anyone have suggestions on a naming convention for those pages? Maybe something like "Established (page type) Standards"?--RyokoYahagi 10:16, 26 April 2006 (CDT)
    • That would be fine I guess....just make sure this page still exists with links to all the subordinate pages. As a side note someone should probably get around to making standards for trophy pages, and possibly at some later date clan pages. --SomeStranger (Talk | Contribs) 10:44, 26 April 2006 (CDT)
    • I was thinking along the lines of Established Standards:Item Pages etc... (As mentioned above.) And yes, this page needs to continue to exist and point to the other smaller pages. You are welcome to tackle the project. I've been busy working on wiki extensions and such for us, and just haven't gotten to it. --jin 18:55, 26 April 2006 (CDT)
      • D'oh. I totally forgot you had already mentioned the naming convention.--RyokoYahagi 13:43, 27 April 2006 (CDT)
  • The split is done, and I think the layout tweaking is done for each new page. I left the element lists for the different page types on this page so that users can compare them all at a glance. It might be a good idea to expand the Other Information sections to make it more obvious that all pages have the last elements in common and in the same order. On the other hand, I can also see an argument for deleting them and just linking to the new pages.--RyokoYahagi 13:43, 27 April 2006 (CDT)
  • Shouldn't there be some guidance on whether to use the full url to link to Wikipedia, or the markup?
  • If the latter, is there some way to search the text of the wiki to find pages that use [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reference Display Text] rather than [[Wikipedia:Reference|Display Text]]? --Evilkolbot 12:21, 12 April 2006 (CDT)

Elemental Damage?

Where's the standard for marking which attacks an enemy has that do elemental damage and which ones don't? --Phred 19:38, 17 April 2006 (CDT)

Page names ending with period

There's a bit about never creating pages whose names end with a period, quoting something about it being difficult/impossible to link to them and edit/move them. Is this even relevant anymore, now that the site is running MediaWiki 1.6.3? --Quietust 20:10, 24 May 2006 (CDT)

I've been able to link to and edit Where There's Smoke... I don't know about moving/deleteing...--Dehstil 20:14, 24 May 2006 (CDT)

  • It may be ok now, some other 'wiki oddities' have been fixed since the wiki started (with using mediawiki 1.4 something). I wish I could locate the old discussion about how the periods caused a problem and what the work-around was, then we could check and be *sure* if it's still a problem or not. --JRSiebz (|§|) 20:31, 24 May 2006 (CDT)
  • If it's ok, Mjolnir Jr and Mr. Accessory Jr should be moved too. (maybe more? I don't know)--Dehstil 21:22, 24 May 2006 (CDT)
  • Brushed Off would be one too if we're having the policy of ending with periods now.--Dehstil 21:47, 24 May 2006 (CDT)

Note on the category standards: it should be said that a page that begins with "The" should be put into a category like this: [[Category:Hats|Scalp of Gorgolok, The]]. I'm not sure how to phrase it..? Also, if it gets updated, category is spelled wrong in that section. --LucySpace (Talk|Cntrb) 14:22, 19 June 2006 (CDT)
