• After aligning Uncle Crimbo's Sack Chakra:

"Hi there!" says the elf, who has found a clean towel somewhere and is wiping a black smudge off of his face. "I'm Shiner, the shoeshine elf!"

"Hello, Shiner," you say. "Is that your given--"

"Yup! Total coincidence!" he says with the practiced quickness of someone who's answered that question three times a day for his entire adult life.

"Gotcha. So you shine shoes?"

"Shoes, boots, moccasins, sandals, you name it!"

"Greaves?"

"No, greaves are technically pants. If you've got a pair of sabatons, though, I'll make 'em so shiny you can see your face in 'em!"

"I'll let you know. But since you're here, I'm guessing that Uncle Crimbo's second chakra is Boots, right?"

"Got it in one, pal! Yup, I've been shining Uncle Crimbo's boots for... well heck I don't even know how many years now. Big, heavy black boots! Those boots represent stability, see? Reliability, dependability -- every year, rain or shine! The kiddies count on him, see, and that's a big responsibility! The grit to get a difficult job done when nobody can do it but you, that's the Boots chakra!

"Hmm," you say, thinking of quite a few Crimbos when a certain difficult job had to be done by a particular someone else.

• Subsequent visits (before aligning Uncle Crimbo's Boots Chakra):

You wander over to Shiner, who is busily polishing someone's leather cowboy boots. "Hi there!" he says. "Are you learning a lot about Uncle Crimbo's Boots?"

"Well," you reply, "I guess I'm learning about him in a general sense, which includes his boots, probably? Sure."

"Great! Just relax and take everything as it comes, and you'll do fine."

• After aligning Uncle Crimbo's Boots Chakra:

You report back to Shiner, who is applying a coat of clear lacquer to a pair of wooden clogs. "Okay," you say, "I've gotten Uncle Crimbo's Boots chakra cleaned up."

"Great!" he says. "I hope that helps keep his actual boots clean for a while -- it gets real boring polishing the same ones every day. At least with Crimbo Town being open to visitors for a while I can get a change of pace -- you should see the awesome biker boots I get to do next! And then there's some penny-loafers, and a pair of bunny slippers..."

"Sorry to interrupt, but what's the next chakra?" you interrupt.

"Oh, I dunno. There'll be another elf along before long though, they'll be able to tell you all about it, I'm sure!"
