This angry spiky... thing seems determined to defend the mine from intruders, by stabbing their soft bits with sharp poison spines. Still, it could be worse -- instead of anemone, it could be anenema, and those things are a pain in the ass.
Hit Message(s):
Animatedly, the anemone attacks! Ouch! Ow! Ouch!
The anemone anemoneedles your <knee> with its pointy spines.
It angrily stabs you with a fair number of pointy spines. Looks like you're anathema to this anemone.
The anemone has anominated you for an annointing with a nominally noxious (and obnoxious) toxic toxin. Ugh! Argh! Eek! Argh!
Filled with anemone animosity, it attacks you -- but misses.
Anemone, doo dooo dee doo-doo. Anemone, doo doodley-doo.
It swings at you weakly and misses. Perhaps it's suffering from anemonemia.
It lunges at you, then realizes that it's not a particularly ambulatory creature and can't lunge as such. (FUMBLE!)

References
- The "Anemone, doo dooo dee doo-doo" miss message is a reference to "Mah Nà Mah Nà", a well-known pop music song written by Piero Umiliani. It originally appeared in the film Sweden: Heaven and Hell, but its most famous version was on the first episode of The Muppet Show as "Mahna Mahna".
- The name "Anemone combatant" sounds rather like "An enemy combatant", now a politically loaded term thanks to the former President of the United States, George W. Bush, and the designation created to detain terrorists from the Middle East during his War on Terror.
- An "anenema" is a mutation of "an enema".
