Category talk:Bosses
The page claims that "Bosses can only be defeated once per ascension", however all of the Hobo Bosses can be defeated multiple times per ascension, assuming the dungeon is refreshed. How should this be amended? -Kirbytheslayer--Kirbytheslayer 05:34, 15 August 2009 (UTC)
- How's this? "Powerful enemies that you only defeat under specific circumstances. Many can only be beaten once per ascension, but some (most notably those found in Clan Dungeons) have other methods of respawning." --Azeltir 05:54, 15 August 2009 (UTC)
I feel very strongly that Category:Bosses should be monsters that are classified as bosses by the game. --Eleron 15:47, 13 March 2012 (CET)
- How would you qualify that? The general criteria that's listed on the category tends to fit just about anything that's actually considered a boss in the game.--Toffile 16:00, 13 March 2012 (CET)
- Bifurcating Blow, Point at your opponent, Release the Boots, etc. let you determine that. I'm not aware of any current criteria besides "seemed sorta boss-like to me". The comment for the last edit to the category says "somewhat arbitrary", which I think fits the currently included pages. But not what it should be like. --Eleron 16:14, 13 March 2012 (CET)
- Some additional explanation: The comment about arbitrariness, and probably a lot of confusion surrounding bosses in general, is because of what grinds into badass pies. That one *is* for all intents and purposes a separate arbitrary selection of monsters; it is not the same as in-game bosses. The only detectable thing that list affects is badass pies, while the boss-flag is a fairly consistent thing that implies uncopyable, noautoattack, and things like those insta-killing skills. (Once upon a time I made this illustration as a joke, but I guess it might be informative: [1]) --Eleron 16:30, 13 March 2012 (CET)
- So is there anything on this page as it stands wouldn't really fit the criteria? The no-instakill description was written last August and hasn't been updated the various ways that have been created since then. I don't think there's anything on the list that can't be copied or is insta-kill.--Toffile 16:49, 13 March 2012 (CET)
- Let me know if you think the newer description is better, I had to qualify insta-kill a bit, since technically GMOB/NS are killed instantly by an item, and then there's the entire Wossname thing.--Toffile 17:01, 13 March 2012 (CET)
- Oh, it's mostly about actually making the category be for bosses, and then working on making it list all in-game bosses and only those. I think it's currently mostly missing monsters instead of falsely listing them, and you recently added a whole bunch which helped a lot :) Another boss is e.g. the mimic. With a clear definition for what should be listed/how you check/what the boss flag actually affects, more people could hopefully verify the existing monsters and add missing ones. --Eleron 17:14, 13 March 2012 (CET)
We now have a very easy way to verify what is and is not an official in-game boss: PvP's second season has a mini which increases with each boss kill. For example, the first nemesis fight is a boss fight, but Beelzebozo is not. Just check your mini score before and after everything you want to check, and bingo! You don't have to break your stone to see your mini scores at the information booth, for the record. --Flargen 22:54, 2 July 2012 (CEST)
