If a guy gets his eye poked out, he has a lot of socially acceptable options -- he can get a glass eye, a wood eye, or he can even get no eye at all and start wearing a cool eyepatch. When an Infernal seal loses an eye, there are only two options: Swift and brutal euthanasia, or this -- an eye-shaped stone of clear crystal, in which the reflected light echoes of millenia of torment bounce eternally between the facets.
