Ed the Undrowning
You step into the chamber, wading through knee-deep water, and discover a large stone sarcophagus, elaborately engraved and inlaid with gold. You lever off the lid, and discover a mummy within the sarcophagus, holding the Holy MacGuffin tightly in its hands.
You step back from the sarcophagus and ready your weapon. "All right, let's get on with it," you say. "I know for a fact that you're going to come to life and attack me as soon as I try to take the MacGuffin, so let's just cut to the chase."
"Tch, you're no fun at all," says the mummy, as it sits up and peers at you with a frown. "In my day, adventurers knew how to stick to the script."
"Sorry, it's been a ridiculously long quest, and I'm a little cranky. Feel free to make whatever menacing speech you had prepared."
"Thank you." The mummy clears its throat, and then rises malevolently out of the sarcophagus, its eyes glowing red with anger. "FOOLISH MORTAL!" it booms. "YOU WOULD DARE TO DISTURB THE SLUMBER OF THE MIGHTY ED, THE--"
Suddenly, a wave appears out of the water in the room and surges over Ed, knocking him aside. The water bubbles up, taking on the shape of Ed, the MacGuffin floating around its midsection. It--
"UNDYING!" Ed shouts, the real Ed, pulling himself up out of the water. He leaps at the watery doppleganger and pummels it back into the puddle from whence it came.
"Sorry about that interruption, Adventurer. No sentient mimetic water's going to keep me from my prize! Perhaps they should call me 'Ed the Undrowning' from now on? Or do you suppose that's covered with the whole 'Undying' thing? Eh, whatever. Now, let's see about grinding you into paste, shall we?"
