Enter the Snowman
"Stop right there, fiend! You shall go no further!" A dozen ninja snowmen leap into the room from various balconies, trapdoors, concealed cupboards, and other hiding places. "We will never permit you to steal the ancient Teachings!"
"Ancient Teachings?" you ask the lead snowman. "What are you talking about?"
"Do not try to feign ignorance! We know you are here for the scroll! Why else would you injure so many of my clan?"
"What scroll? I was just looking around, and you guys attacked me! I was defending myself!"
The snowman looks perplexed. "So you aren't here to steal the scroll containing one of the secret teachings of the Way of the Surprising Fist that it has been our duty to guard for generations?"
"I didn't know you had it. Besides, it wouldn't be very honorable of me to steal it from you."
You get the sense that, if the snowman had feet, he would be shuffling them awkwardly. "...Are you sure you don't want to steal it? I understand the knowledge it contains is quite valuable."
"You want me to steal it?"
"It's just that we were all really excited about the opportunity for some action, you know? We're supposed to guard this thing, but nobody ever even tries to take it. I think it might be a little too secret, to tell you the truth."
"Well, like I said, stealing is generally frowned upon as dishonorable, so..."
"Okay, here, look..." The snowman opens an ornate cabinet in the back of the room, and takes out an ancient scroll, which he holds out to you. "I'll just give it to you. Then it's not stealing, right? And then my brothers and I can try to take it back from you. Please? You'd be doing us a real favor."
"Well, if you're sure..."
The snowman nods excitedly as you take the scroll, then clears his throat. "Ready? Right then... Thief! Kill him!"
After a long and elaborately-choreographed fight sequence, you just manage to escape from the temple with both the scroll and your hide intact.
