Fan slime

From A KoL Wiki
fan slime You're fighting a fan slime

This bright yellow slime is dressed as... well, a slime, but a different slime. One that is a popular character in some slime-oriented cartoon or movie or something. It doesn't look particularly different from any other slime you've seen, so I'm not sure how you can tell.

Also it has a sign on it reading "FREE HUGS", which is kind of gross.

Hit Message(s):

It gives you a free hug. Honestly, you would have paid a decent stack of meat to keep that from happening. Ouch! Oof! Eek! Oof! (sleaze damage)

The slime pulls out a giant prop sword and whacks you with it. Ow! Ooh! Argh! Ouch!

It asks you some questions about a popular slime television show, and subjects you to withering scorn when you can't answer them.Ow! Ouch! Ouch! Ugh!

You claim to prefer your slime cartoons dubbed into English rather than subtitled, and the slime smacks you with a pseudopod. Argh! Ugh! Ugh! Ugh!

Critical Hit Message:

He extrudes a couple of pseudopods around you and squeezes until you see bright blue spots, and keeps squeezing until those spots start seeing bright green adventurers. Ugh! Ow! Eek! Ooh!

Miss Message(s):

It tries to give you a free hug, but you tell it that it couldn't pay you enough to accept it.

It whacks you with a giant prop sword, but it's made of styrofoam, so it doesn't hurt all that much.

It asks you trivia questions about a popular slime television show, but you're not aware that there's this invention called the television and that on it, they show shows.

The slime tries to argue dubbed versus subtitled with you, but you can't argue about what you don't care about.

Fumble Message:

It squishes off to offer free hugs to some attractive (to a slime) female slimes in the booth next to this one. (FUMBLE!)

After Combat
You acquire an item: vial of yellow slime (66% chance)*

Notes

  • You must use the bottle of Gü-Gone to kill the creature to get the slime to drop.
  • The vial's drop rate is unaffected by item drop modifiers.

  • The "Free Hugs" sign the slime is wearing is inspired by similar signs fans attending anime conventions. This is known as Free Hugs Campaign. They have been known to wear these while waiting in long event lines. Some signs are rather more blatantly lecherous. Several convention organizers have banned such signs because they may be seen as bordering on solicitation.
  • The fan slime is also partaking in Cosplay.
  • The message about dubbing vs subtitles refers to the perennial debate about Subbing vs Dubbing in anime.
  • The miss message about television refers to a lesser known quote from Pulp Fiction.
