Free Runaway Mechanic

  • The first three times you run away per day, you have a 100% chance of a free runaway.
  • The next three times (4th, 5th, and 6th), you have an 80% chance of a free runaway.
  • The next three times (7th, 8th, and 9th), you have a 50% chance of a free runaway.
  • The 10th+ times per day, you have a 20% chance of a free runaway.
  • The runaway counter is shared with that of the navel ring and the peppermint parasol.

  • Can only be activated 5 times per day but the same effect can be stacked. Changing effect on count still needs details.
    • Super Skill: Combat skills and spells cost 0 MP
    • Super Structure: +500 damage absorption, superhuman resistance to all elements
    • Super Vision: +25% item drops from monsters
    • Super Speed: +100% Moxie
    • Super Accuracy: +30% chance of critical hit
  • Effects drop if pants are unequipped.
  • Running away from combat with the pants on sometimes results in the message:
As you turn to run away, your pants suddenly activate, and you rocket off into the sky at breakneck speed.
  • The third runaway generates the message:
You're starting to get kinda queasy from all of this flying.
  • The sixth free runaway generates the message:
Okay, seriously, this flying is making you really queasy.
  • The ninth free runaway generates the message:
Eurgh. At this point, you're officially airsick.
  • Runaways which are not free result in the message:
You walk away from the fight at a leisurely pace in your handsome superpants.

  • A reference to the early 1980s television show The Greatest American Hero. The hero of the series is given an alien suit which grants him many different powers when it is activated. The theme song is "Believe It or Not".
